The Team: Sebastian Orellana, Pranav Pannala, Kian Namiranian, Luke Venezia
Heading into the end of year we were tasked with a more fun project that was more open to our ideas of what we wanted to do. We were tasked with building a band(1 string instrument, 1 wind, and 1 percussion) that could play a whole octave. Each team member constructed one instrument and the ones who did not have an instrument would help everyone else out, and eventually sing our parody of Californication. I constructed an electric guitar, Kian constructed a trumpet, Pranav constructed a bass, and Sebastian a pipe organ. Below is a google document explaining how our instruments work, and how we got the notes that we did.
Reflection
In this project I found the meaning of what rolling with the punches meant, everything in our project that could've went wrong, went wrong. However I feel I did a respectable job of trying to change our plans according to what happened. In the past, I have always had problems with change throughout the project, but I feel my ability to change was definitely tested in this project. I also feel that I did a good job at leading the group in what to do, especially towards the end where we had nothing to show for two weeks of work. Much of the group, including me, were getting stressed about the deadline for the project, so I suggested that we, instead of blindly working through our project, that we take a break for a day and re-research everything that had to relate to our instrument. That way we could figure out the faults in our instrument before completing it. In so doing saved many of us time that helped us later complete the project before the deadline. One thing that I think i could've done better was communicating my plans with the group. Since the majority of my instrument was done at home, I didn't bring my instrument in until a few days before the deadline. Because of this my team mates did not see how my instrument was coming along until I had practically finished it. If I were them I would be very wary if it even worked or not. I think I could also have improved my time management on this project. Because many of the parts for my guitar had to be ordered online I had to wait for several days until I could start my project. However even if this is the case I could've done one of two things. One I could've started the woodworking part of the instrument while the parts were being shipped. Or I could've helped other team mates with their projects. However, I feel that overall this project was a good one to end the school year on with the exception of the do it better project.
