This was our first project of our second year of STEM, and it was a great intro into biology and biotech for sophomore year. Much of this project was done, while overlapping with several other mini projects including the PCR lab and bacterial resistance lab. The main part of our project was to make a slideshow about a endangered species showing their population trend, evolutionary history, current habitat and environment, and food source. We had to determine whether we thought they would go extinct and simultaneously gain support and awareness for our specie through a certain type of media. Our species was the African Penguin, which has been on the endangered list for about 5 years. We began with a slideshow to show and support all of our information. We then created an online jeopardy to test our class about the penguin and raise awareness within our class about the African penguin. You can find both our jepardy and slideshow below.

Artificial Selection- is the intentional reproduction, by humans, of individuals in a population that have desirable traits.
Natural Selection-the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. Biodiversity-the variety of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem. Extinction-the state or process of a species, family, or larger group being or becoming extinct. Survival of the Fittest-the continued existence of organisms that are best adapted to their environment, with the extinction of others, as a concept in the Darwinian theory of evolution. Gene Pool-the stock of different genes in an interbreeding population. Five Fingers of Evolution-
